Description
Taq Chalzineh is one of the historical and cultural attractions of Kandahar city, which was built on the west side of Kandahar city on top of Sarpozeh mountain.
The use of authentic Islamic and Indian architecture in the construction of the forty-step arch, as well as the geographical location of this arch, which is located in a green place near the Arghandab sea, has doubled its beauty. Today, the Forty Steps or Forty Steps Arch is one of the most important tourist and cultural attractions in Afghanistan.
The 40-step arch is divided into several separate parts in terms of the appearance of the portico or arch. The interior of the portico, the rectangular part of the arch itself, the stairs and its exterior.
The space inside the portico is in the form of a small room, which is very simple and made with minimal shapes and pictures. The arch itself is covered in a rectangular shape, which is two meters wide and three meters long. This space is connected to the mountainside with forty-four steps. The distance between each step is also considered to be about seventy centimeters.
Also, some people say that there is an inscription in Persian script inside the forty steps. On this stone, the date of its construction, which was during Babur's time, is written. Writings in Nastaliq script can also be seen on the forty-step arch itself.
