Samangan province is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan and is considered one of the northern provinces of the country. The center of Samangan province is the city of Aybak. Samangan shares a border with Sarpol, Balkh, Baghlan and Bamyan provinces. Samangan has an area of 11,218 square kilometers and a population of 430,489.
