Nuristan is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan and is one of the eastern provinces of Afghanistan. The center of Nuristan is Parun. Nuristan province has a common border with Badakhshan, Panjshir, Laghman and Kunar provinces and also with Pakistan. Nuristan has an area of 9,267 square kilometers and a population of 134,100. Nuristan has 7 districts which include Barg-i Matal, Du Ab, Kamdesh, Mandol, Nurgram, Wama and Waygal. Residents of Nuristan residents speak in Nuristan, Pesha-e and Pamiri languages.
