Kunduz is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan and is one of the northern provinces of the country. Kunduz city is the capital of Kunduz province. Kunduz shares a border with Balkh, Samangan, Baghlan and Takhar provinces and also with Tajikistan. Kunduz has an area of 8040 square kilometers and a population of 1160124 people. Kunduz has 6 districts which include Ali Abad, Aqtash, Archi, Chardara, Imam Sahib, Khan Abad and Qalay-I-Zal. Kunduz residents speak in Dari, Pashto, Uzbek and Turkmen languages.
