Helmand is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan and is located in the south of the country. The capital of Helmand province is the city of Lashkargah. Helmand shares a border with Nimroz, Kandahar, Farah and Ghor provinces and also with Pakistan. Helmand has an area of 58,584 square kilometers and a population of 1,446,230. Helmand has 13 districts, which include Baghran, Dishu, Garmsir, Kajaki, Khanashin, Marjah, Musa Qala, Nad Ali, Grishk,Nawa-I-Barakzayi, Nawzad, Sangin, Washir and Bahram Chah. Most of the people of Helmand province speak in Pashto and Dari languages.
