Description

The city of Gholghele is another ancient city of Bamyan and the relics of the Islamic period. This city is as old as 2000 years, It was destroyed many times in the course of history and was destroyed for the first time by Genghis Khan. Due to its age and charms, this city has been registered on the UNESCO list since 2012, and the restoration and reconstruction have also been started by a German group under the management of Icomos.


  The city of Gholghleh is located on a gray hill in the middle of fields and fields in Saeedabad village. The city of Gholghleh in Afghanistan is one of the eight historical monuments of Bamyan, which has been registered as a world cultural heritage in the UNESCO organization and attracts hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists every year. This city, which according to historical documents, was once the capital of one of the largest Islamic governments, nothing else remains except for a few caves, a number of destroyed walls, some watch towers and a mosque minaret.


The city of Gholghele does not have much of a view from a distance, but every tourist who enters the city realizes its architectural wonders and learns about the civilization of the residents of this area.


The walls of the houses and the palace, which is located in the highest area of this hill, are built with a width of about one meter and have beautiful and magnificent domes. The remains of this city show that the houses were built skillfully. .
