Herat

Herat is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan and is located in the west of the country. The capital of Herat province is Herat city. Herat shares borders with Badghis, Farah and Ghor provinces and also with Iran and Turkmenistan. Herat has an area of 547,780 square kilometers and a population of about 556,205 people. This province has 15 urban areas and 15 districts. Adraskan, Chishti Sharif, Farsi, Ghoryan, Gulran, Guzara, Enjil, Karukh, Kohsan, Kushk, Kushki Kuhna, Obe, Pashtun Zarghun, Shindand and Zinda Jan are districts of Herat. Like Kabul, Herat is a multi-ethnic city and almost all ethnic groups live in this province. Most of the residents of Herat province speak in Dari.
