Herat province is one of the ancient and historical provinces of Afghanistan. This province is full of ancient and historical places that fascinate every visitor. One of these ancient places is the tomb of Khwaja Abdullah Ansari, nicknamed the "Peri Herat", and it is located in the north of Herat city in the "Gazergah" area.
Abu Ismail Abdullah bin Mansour, known as Khwaja Abdullah Ansari, was born in Herat in 396 AH and died in 481 at the age of 85. Khwaja Abdullah Ansari was considered one of the literary geniuses and prominent figures in the 5th century AH. Elahi Nameh, Manajat Nameh, Kanzal Arifin, Sadmidan and Haft Hesar are his famous works.
The tomb of Khwaja Abdallah Ansari was sparsely inhabited during the "Ghorian" and "Seljuq" periods, but during the Timurid period, especially "Shahrokh Mirza", it was substantially repaired and tiled. In addition to the tomb of Khwaja Abdullah Ansari, there are also tombs of poets and mystics such as "Sheikh Amo", "Abunsarkhbaz", "Abulhasan Sohan", "Abdullah Ghorbanj", "Gharib Mirza", "Amirdoost Mohammad Khan" in the Gazergah area.
Now the tomb of Khwaja Abdullah Ansari is considered one of the holy and touristic places of Herat cities, thousands of people visit this holy place every year.
