Description
Herat Citadel, known as Akhtar al-Din Castle or Bala Hessar, is one of the important historical buildings of Herat city, which has been preserved since the time of Alexander the Great, and after restoration and reconstruction, it has attracted the attention of tourists and enthusiasts. This citadel with an area of five thousand square meters and twenty one towers is located in the center of the city.
Inside this building is the National Museum, one of the provincial museums of Afghanistan, which has artifacts from the Ghaznavid, Timurian, Safavid, and Ghorian eras.
