Description
Ghazi Stadium is the first and largest stadium in Afghanistan, located in the east of Kabul province. This stadium was built during the Kingdom of Amanullah Khan in 1923. In the early days, Ghazi Stadium was an empty field, there were no buildings or repairs in it, and wrestling or wrestling matches were held there weekly. In 1335, its wall was gradually built and there was still a place for spectators.
In 1352, during the period of Dawood Khan, a series of fundamental changes were made in Ghazi Stadium and its rehabilitation began, the audience area was enlarged and some new buildings were made for its employees. The first international match that was held in this stadium was the football match between the national teams of Afghanistan and Iran in 1941, this match ended in a draw.
The capacity of Ghazi Stadium is about 25,000 people. In 2011, the artificial grass of this stadium was installed at a cost of more than one million dollars, which was paid by NATO forces. The installation of artificial grass took about four months.
